Psalms 85

Prayer for God’s Mercy upon the Nation.

For the music director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

1 Lord, You showed ^afavor to Your land;
You ^brestored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You ^cforgave the guilt of Your people;
You ^dcovered all their sin. Selah
3 You ^ewithdrew all Your fury;
You ^fturned away from Your burning anger.

4 ^gRestore us, God of our salvation,
And ^hcause Your indignation toward us to cease.
5 Will ⁱYou be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to ^{▼▼Lit generation and generation}all generations?
6 Will You not ^{▼▼Or bring to life
,} ^lrevive us again,
So that Your people may ^mrejoice in You?
7 Show us Your mercy, Lord,
And ⁿgrant us Your salvation.

8 ^{▼▼Or Let me hear}I will hear what God the Lord will say;
For He will ^pspeak peace to His people, to His godly ones;
And may they not ^qturn back to ^{▼▼I.e., foolish self-confidence}foolishness.
9 Certainly ^sHis salvation is near to those who ^{▼▼Or revere}fear Him,
That ^uglory may dwell in our land.
10 ^vGraciousness and ^{▼▼Or faithfulness}truth have met together;
^xRighteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 ^{▼▼Or Faithfulness}Truth ^zsprouts from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 Indeed, ^aathe Lord will give what is good,
And our ^abland will yield its produce.
13 ^acRighteousness will go before Him
And will make His footsteps into a way.
